At HeatLift Dynamics, we’re more than just co-founders—we’re lifelong friends. Our journey started back in high school, where we bonded over shared ambitions, late-night brainstorming sessions, and a drive to build something meaningful.
From those early days, we’ve always believed in the power of innovation, collaboration, and a little bit of fun along the way. With complementary skills and a shared vision, we founded HeatLift Dynamics!

Co-founder & CTO
Passionate about Engineering, Thermodynamics, and Efficiency.
Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at Delft University of Technology, he is driven to solve the most complex challenges in energy and thermal systems. With a vision to create innovative solutions that enhance performance and sustainability, he combines deep technical knowledge with a hands-on approach to engineering excellence.
At HeatLift Dynamics, he leads the development of cutting-edge technologies that optimise energy efficiency and thermodynamics, paving the way for a more sustainable and resource-efficient future.

Control Systems Engineer
Martijn is a highly enthusiastic Aerospace engineer who specialises in designing and programming control systems. He is responsible for the reliable and precise electronic control of our Multiphase Pressure Exchanger.

Co-founder & COO
Ryan brings a unique blend of interdisciplinary expertise and extensive leadership experience to HeatLift Dynamics as a co-founder. With a strong academic foundation, Ryan graduated in 2024 from the Honours Programme in Politics, Psychology, Law, and Economics (PPLE) at the University of Amsterdam and Crisis and Security Management at Leiden University.
Passionate about strengthening and improving organizations, Ryan has dedicated over six years to serving on various boards and committees of student organizations, specialising in external relations, finance, policy development, and board administration. His combination of academic insight and hands-on experience enables him to professionalise HeatLift Dynamics' management, and public presentation, ensuring the company operates efficiently and effectively as it grows.

Fluid Dynamics Intern
Govert is a trained physicist with an intuitive understanding of the physics behind our innovative multiphase pressure exchange. His work on fluid dynamics is essential for the geometry of our mechatronic design.

September 2025
HeatLift Dynamics takes up office in the Yes!Delft startup incubator building at Molengraaffsingel 12, and the co-founders Sake and Ryan begin working full-time.
September 2024
Sake Smits asks Ryan Dillmann to help him build an enterprise marketing an innovative pressure exchanger. Together they found HeatLift Dynamics.
October 2024 - March 2025:
A Proof-of-Concept of the Multiphase Pressure Exchanger (MPE) is successfully built and tested
5 June 2025
HeatLift Dynamics wins the TU Delft Impact Contest, winning 10.000 in prize money
7 October 2025
A patent is filed with Arnold & Siedsma to protect the technology behind the MPE
18 November 2025
HeatLift Dynamics closes with the investors ASIF Ventures and TN Ventures, raising €240.000
